According to the fast news, the press office of the Tomsk University of Technology in Russia announced that the scientists of the school have developed a technology to extract antifreeze heavy oil from old car tires. The obtained heavy oil will not freeze at minus 50 degrees. , The environmental protection level is twice that of ordinary heavy oil.
According to scientists’ assessments, Russia throws out about 1 million tons of tires every year, and about 1 billion tons in the world. Some of them are just left in the garbage dump. Even under ordinary sunlight, tires will release toxic substances, and some tires will be destroyed. Incineration also emits a large number of harmful substances, and another 30% of tires are processed into rubber pellets.
Russian scientists have created an experimental device in which car tires are decomposed into various products, including heavy oil, through the action of superheated steam. This method enables higher quality products to be obtained in an environmentally friendly manner.
Laboratory research shows that the heavy oil extracted from rubber waste surpasses ordinary heavy oil in all properties. These include reducing the sulfur content by half, which makes it more environmentally friendly, while its viscosity and density are lower, which is very important for us. When it burns, it also provides as much energy as traditional brands. Laboratory research also shows that this heavy oil will not freeze and will not lose its performance when it is as low as minus 50 degrees (the freezing temperature of ordinary heavy oil of different brands ranges from minus 10 degrees to minus 10 degrees).
Now, heavy oil is widely used as fuel for boilers and ships in the Arctic.
The Russian scientist’s device can process up to 300 kilograms of car tire pellets per hour.
